Ashleigh were appointed as Main Contractor by Strangford Lough Yacht Club to refurbish a Jetty and reconstruct two Slipways over the winter season 2021/2022.
Works Comprised:
- Concrete encasement of a 75m long concrete and masonry Jetty and the extension to and overlaying of 2No abutting Slipways with the majority of all works being undertaken in the tidal zone and extending to below MLWS during the winter season.
- Ashleigh fabricated a steel shuttering system to encase the Jetty structure with preparation required to the old structure including cleaning down, drilling and resin-fixing of dowels to secure A393 mesh reinforcement to the sides and deck of the Jetty the Jetty had to be refurbished with the min. 200mm depth of concrete encasement ahead of refurbishment of the two abutting slipway structures.
- Slipway No. 1 at 9m width and No. 2 at 8.5m wide were extended below MLWS by circa 5m and new constant-grade profiles to each required the lower sections to be broken out to accommodate the new shallower grade.
- The Slipways were cast on a bed of lean mix concrete overlaying the existing slipway profiles and then lined with heavy duty polythene and then cast as reinforced concrete slabs a min. of 250mm deep.
Additional works comprised the encasement of a crane wall and re-grading and forming a revised Approach slab area to the two new Slipway layouts
