Works Comprised:

Construction of 6No new Jetty facilities at the following lock structures on the Lower Bann:- Toome (Upstream and Downstream), Movanagher (Upstream & Downstream), Carnroe (Downstream) and The Cutts (Downstream).
Each jetty facility comprises construction of:-
- New Gabion Retaining Walls constructed from approx. 1.5m below normal river water level. A Total of 1,600m3 of Gabion Retaining Wall structures were constructed. At Carnroe, the Retaining Wall structure comprised a sheet piled wall faced with hardwood timber cladding.
- Installation of a total of 22No Dia. 406mm Tubular Steel Pontoon Locating Piles – pile lengths varying from 8m to 10m.
- Construction of Reinforced Concrete Bankseats on the existing masonry lock structures to accommodate new access linkspans and floating pontoons.
- Miscellaneous Handrailing and Landscaping works at each facility.
The construction of the Gabion Retaining Walls at each location required the construction of sheet piled cofferdams approx. 50m long at each site to enable construction of Gabion Mattresses and Baskets in relatively dry conditions.
