Contracts Manager


Greg's areas of specialist expertise include contract management, the organisation and planning of site operations, and management of subcontractors and suppliers of materials on civil engineering projects. Greg began his career with RPS Consulting Engineers as part of a housing team within the Highways Section. He was responsible for the production of engineering drawings (cut-and fill, drainage and road design) to help obtain planning permissions for the client. Following this Greg moved to contracting with GRAHAM Construction as a site engineer working on a broad range of heavy civils jobs ranging from waste water, motorway construction, rail and nuclear. After leaving GRAHAM, Greg gained valuable experience in the renewables sector, managing the construction of 4No onshore wind farm projects of various sizes throughout the UK. Greg joined Ashleigh Contracts in January 2014 and has since managed multiple marine civil engineering contracts; from dredging (rock and silts) & scour protection to Revetment construction (X-Bloc, Accropode and Rock Armour).

N.I.W. INTEGRATED WASTEWATER FRAMEWORK

NI Water, 2008-2010, £~10M

Role: Site Engineer

Responsibilities: To oversee the construction of a number of cassion shafts pumping stations 8-12m diameter, 8-12m deep with associated pipelines for NIW, whilst maintaining existing overcapacity pumping stations. Also responsible for refurbishing an existing storm water pumping station and construction of the replacement R.C. box culvert (1.5x2.5m) 190m long. Liaising with Design Team to overcome any issues on site. Reporting to Site Manager regarding progress. Controlling Plant, Materials and Labour.

 

HMC – M80 STEPPS TO HAGGS

Scottish Transport, 2010-2011, £320M

Role: Site Engineer

Responsibilities: Pavements Engineer – to manage sub-contractor, ensure quality of work, H&S compliance, QA and also to liaise with designer in getting sections of work signed off.

 

EDINBURGH TRAMS NETWORK

T.I.E, 2011-2012, £775M

Role: Site Engineer

Responsibilities: To oversee the construction of a section of track works from Haymatrket Station to Russell Road overbridge, consisting of drainage, ducting, earthworks and trackslab. Also construction of Russell Road reinforced concrete overbridge.

 

DOUNREAY NUCLEAR DE-COMMISSIONING

D.S.R.L. 2012-2012, £12.5M

Role: Site Engineer

Responsibilities: To oversee the construction of 2nr sub-surface R.C. vaults approx. 100m long by 50m wide, to accommodate the demolition material coming out of Dounreay during its de-commissioning. Whilst also overseeing construction of a rock geosphere as part of the overall SUDS scheme for the job.

 

THORNOG WINDFARM (ENABLING WORKS)

D.W. Consulting Ltd. Oct.2012- Jan. 2013, £500k

Role: Site Manager

Responsibilities: To oversee construction of the first 500m of site access tracks and to construct the substructure to the control building to secure planning for the site. Liaising with Design Team to overcome any issues on site. Reporting to Contracts Manager & client regarding progress. Controlling Plant, Materials and Labour.

 

GLENCONWAY WINDFARM (PHASE II)

SSE Renewables. Jan. 2013-Aug. 2013, £4.2m

Role: Site Manager

Responsibilities: To oversee construction of 3.2km of site access tracks 12nr hardstands, turbine bases and the laying of 6.8km of collector circuit. Liaising with Design Team to overcome any issues on site. Reporting to Contracts Manager & client regarding progress. Controlling Plant, Materials and Labour.

 

LANGHOPE RIG WINDFARM, SCOTLAND

FRASERBURGH HARBOUR DREDGE

Responsibilities: To manage the contract of, and oversee rock dredging operations for the Fraserburgh North Harbour deepening and construction of a ~70m long rock armour revetment. Reporting to Ashleigh Contracts Director & client regarding progress. Management of Plant, Materials and Labour.

 

SUMBURGH RUNWAY EXTENSION

Responsibilities: To manage the contract of, and oversee construction of an X-block revetment protection scheme to an existing runway extension that currently suffers extreme erosion during storm events. GREENORE PORT BERTH DEEPENING

Role: Contracts Manager

Responsibilities: To manage the contract of, and oversee rock dredging of Greenore deep water berth to facilitate larger bulk carrier vessels to use quay during all states of tide. Reporting to Ashleigh Contracts Director & client regarding progress. Management of Plant, Materials and Labour.

 

CARRICKFERGUS MARINA DREDGE

D1 SEABED  PROTECTION REPAIRS

DONG Energy UK

Dec. 2015 – Feb. 2016, £0.2m

Role: Contracts Manager

Responsibilities: To manage the contract of, and oversee construction of a series of repairs to the seabed mattress on which the off-shore jack-up vessels used alongside the D1 quay when loading windfarm components. Reporting to Ashleigh Contracts Director & client regarding progress. Management of Plant, Materials and Labour.

 

MUSGRAVE CHANNEL TBT DREDGE

Feb. 2016 – PRESENT, £2.9m

Role: Contracts Manager

Responsibilities: To manage the contract of, and oversee construction of a rock armoured containment bund behind which contaminated dredge material will be placed. Dredging scope included a 750m x 100m approach to the H&W building dock. Reporting to Ashleigh Contracts Director & client regarding progress. Management of Plant, Materials and Labour.
